We wish to EMPOWER modern consumers by creating ECLECTIC high-quality pieces that are beautifully and SUSTAINABLY MADE. As a reflection of the current times, we STRIVE to address notions of OVERCONSUMPTION, RAISE AWARENESS and bring forth INNOVATIVE ways of REDESIGNING the clothes we wear.

‘Merging the old and the new into a hybrid piece of clothing serves as a key driver in my work, to come up with innovative ways to extend the life span of clothes and stimulate positive change in the fashion industry.’

#GLAMCYCLING is a creative and transformative process focused in upgrading existing products into avant-garde, ultra-glamorous versions.

‘It is our mission to elevate upcycling, push its creative boundaries and extend the life span of clothes.’

Glamcycling logistics: we take garments apart and save everything from buttons to trims. Like a gigsaw-puzzle, most gathered components get repaired and creatively repurposed to elevate others. We use clever seaming and pattern cutting to create minimum wastage. Big silhouettes is our thing, excess fabric means excess ruffles!

Local Community

All DB pieces are exclusively MADE IN LONDON. A small team of local specialists of seamstresses and pattern cutters are in and out of our buzzing atelier to bring the pieces to life.

Materials

Embracing a ‘Blender’ philosophy, we reinvent existing products with sustainable materials to repurpose them into new upgraded versions. The materials and fabrics we use have a traceable low environmental impact.

For the soft-draped pieces we use ethical silk, cupro or cellulosic fibers. Cellulosic fibers are man-made from natural wood pulp originating from responsibly managed plantations in a closed-loop chemical process. The yarn carries a FSC and PEFC certification while also being OEKO-TEX approved. We use cupro varieties composed of regenerated cellulose cotton fibers. Our cupro is certified under the GRS -global recycled- and OEKO-TEX standard.

Vintage trims, embroidery cuts, sleeves and collars are some of the collage elements that form the artful soul of DesignBlender.

Prioritising all materials that can be sourced locally and are true vintage, we are committed in offering as many sustainable solutions as possible to complement our design process.

Transparency

We strive to offer full transparency of the making process by intentionally disclosing the origin of our materials. This highlights the story behind our pieces and the cultural references they carry.

Packaging

Staying true to our sustainable mission towards the environment we are committed to ethical packaging choices and sourcing materials within the UK. Our packaging ‘look’ may change seasonally depending on availability.

Circularity. We aim to be at the forefront of circular packaging thereby, in some cases we may retain the original packaging of a product as we consider this an environmentally friendlier solution.

ZERO WASTE

Our approach is focused in using recyclable, repurposed and compostable components in every step of the process.

CO2 Footprint

FIGHT AGAINST PLASTIC. Our garment bags are water soluble and biodegradable, made from polymers that dissolve in water.

100% Recycled

Our beautiful DB boxes are limited edition and made from recycled cardboard. Many customers reuse them in creative ways.

All DesignBlender tags, labels and tissue paper are made from recycled paper.

Our online shipping gear is often repurposed made from recyclable cardboard boxes.

REDUCE

Striving for minimal design packaging we use wax stamps instead of stickers that are made from natural, paraffin-free waxes.

Circular Economy

Our vision is to build a fashion brand entirely based on circularity.

Making sure garments are worn more is at the core of our design practice. We aim to establish a ‘take-back’ model where unwanted clothes serve as inspiration for new ones. This is just the beginning of a very long journey and we are excited about its applications. If you have unwanted clothes/fabrics/materials that you would like to donate to our project please reach out to us at: atelier@designblender.co
